Keylife Trial Press Felt on Sun International Paper GroupSun International Paper BM26 started up in October 2012 producing high quality folding box and art board.
On April 6th Keylife trial fabrics were installed in the 1st press top & bottom positions.
The objectives were to improve the start-up time for the customer following their planned clothing changes, allowing them to reach target speeds and dryness, leaving the press to maximise productivity. Historically this could take up to 24 hours, with our matched set of styles we achieved nip dewatering within 30 minutes of the machine starting and a 1.5% increase in dryness leaving the press section (customer measurement) when measured against previous results.
Keylife press felts ran to target lifetime with steady nip dewatering & low machine steam consumption. This success realised a further opportunity for Keylife to work together in the 2nd press positions. This time installation was in July and, once again, start up and performance met our combined objectives.
Sheet quality (particularly paper smoothness) is reported by the customer to be ‘perfect’ with none of their typical sheet stealing problems evident.
Keylife look forward to sharing continued, successful results with the valued customer, Sun International Paper.
